科教基地 

 　　武漢是國家重要的科教基地之一，科教綜合實力居全國大城市第三位。擁有包括武漢大學(xué)、華中科技大學(xué)等 52 所普通高校， 70 萬在校大學(xué)生。成人高校在校學(xué)生近 12 萬人。各類科研機構(gòu) 106 所，國家實驗室 1 個，國家級重點實驗室 13 個，在漢中國科學(xué)院與工程院院士 47 名。智力資源和人力資源十分豐富，“武漢·中國光谷”所在地武漢東湖地區(qū)是我國第二大智力密集區(qū)，在光通訊、生物工程、激光、微電子技術(shù)和新型材料等領(lǐng)域，科技開發(fā)實力處于全國領(lǐng)先地位。

Scientific and Educational Capabilities 
As one of the country's key scientific and educational bases, Wuhan enjoys the 3 rd biggest scientific and educational capabilities among major Chinese cities. It is home to 52 universities including Wuhan university and Huazhong University of Science and Technology with an enrolment of 700 thousand university students. There are 106 science and research institutes of various kinds, 1 national laboratory, 13 state key laboratories, 47 academicians of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering. Wuhan is abundant in talent and human resources. East Lake area where Wuhan Optics Valley of China is China's second talent-concentrated area. It is the country's leader in R&D capabilities of optical communications, biological engineering, laser, microelectronics and new building materials.
